Growing up in California:
Everyone in the community knew to take their old radios, TVs or any electrical devices to Al; to be fixed, further destroyed, or made into a rocket.
Electrician:
Mid sixties he got his training with the electrical union in southern California
McDonald Douglas:
Al’s next move was to McDonald Douglas Aircraft, starting in the assembly plant and quickly moving up to becoming a department supervisor of employee innovation and motivation. How could it get any better than working with airplanes and spaceships?
The Body Electric/Medical School:
Since the human body has one of the most advanced electrical system designs known, learning about it was Al’s next exciting experience. Prosthetics and orthotics became a major area of interest and furthering those studies brought him to the University of Washington.
Reality:
Paying for medical school ain’t cheap. The reality of that fact, and a young family, drove Al to start his own electrical business. That morphed into Valley Decks & Spas with three locations on the East Side and several years helping builders realize their Street of Dreams visions.
Yearn to Learn or Serve and Wear a Badge:
Being an Electrician was great but, he wanted to be more involved so he volunteered and worked for Snohomish County, as a Deputy Sheriff and Fire Fighter.
